Rosenblum Cellars, a division of Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, has just launched The Great American Wine Company. Accompanying the three wines – a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Chardonnay and a red blend – was a donation of $100,000 to the USO. The wines are being distributed nationally this month and support for military charities will continue with each vintage.
The wines, which retail for around $12.99 a bottle, are described by the winery as assertive and approachable. The Chardonnay has a round, rich palate with notes of apple pie and white peach. The Red Blend offers a luscious nose of dark cherries and vanilla piecrust, with blueberries and red fruit on the palate. The Cabernet is big and charismatic, with aromas of dark fruit, cigar box, leather and sage, and juicy boysenberry and black cherry flavors with a long finish.
