December 29, 2014 – Louisville’s 4th Street Live entertainment district will have a new attraction in 2015 with the planned opening of a 4,300 square foot visitor center by Jim Beam. The Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse will include a working pot still, a bottling line where guests can fill their own bottle, a tasting area and a merchandise sales area. The company says it will complement the visitor experience offered at its Jim Beam American Stillhouse in Clermont, Kentucky. The $5.2 million center will be located beneath existing office space occupied by Beam Suntory, which also owns Maker’s Mark Bourbon House and Lounge located nearby on 4th Street Live.
Other companies investing in Louisville’s budding bourbon tourism include Heaven Hill Distilleries, which opened the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience in the historic Whiskey row district a year ago and Brown-Forman which will open a $30 million distillery and visitor center on Main Street for Old Forester Bourbon in 2016.
