WINEGROWING IS MORE WORK THAN GLAMOR

It happens all the time, perhaps while enjoying a lovely glass of wine, or especially when visiting wine country, wherever it may be.  The romance of the wine industry inspires heady visions of owning a vineyard.  When you come right down to it, winegrowing is farming and it is fraught with droughts, floods, pests and perils.  Still, with any success, the end product is pretty darned nice.

A recent photo of a flooded vineyard in Napa (yes, it has been raining but it’s still officially a drought) made us think about all that goes into producing a bottle of wine.  An article in the Napa Valley Register by Jennifer Putnam, Executive Director of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers explains where things are as spring arrives and March ends http://napavalleyregister.com/eedition/page-c/page_b509c7bc-b699-11e3-8aa5-0019bb2963f4.html
