Unique New “Business of Wine” Course Offered Online

?

April 8, 2016 – An exciting new online course covering virtually every facet of the wine industry in the US, from vineyard to sales, will be available starting April 27.  Master of Wine Tim Hanni created the new online Business of Wine course in collaboration with the Napa Valley Wine Academy.  Over a period of eight weeks, participants will dive into this dynamic and interactive-intensive program for a comprehensive look at key business, marketing and financial decisions that are made from vineyard to sales, and how these decisions affect the final costs of the product and impact a business’s bottom line.

Hanni has designed this online course to be uniquely customizable to each participant’s goals. From winery principals who need to be familiar with costs, operations, distribution and point-of-sale considerations, the course also provides a competitive advantage to novices looking for opportunities in the industry.  Winemakers or viticulturists wanting to expand upon their knowledge of business strategy; those considering, or already in the process, of starting a winery or a wine-related business; any wine professional looking to understand the different segments of the industry and how they connect and interact with one another; and international participants interested in exporting wines to the U.S. and/or needing a firm understanding of how the U.S. wine business works will find the program has plenty to offer.

“The wine business is an ever-changing market and people need access to solid business principles and strategies to be successful,” notes Hanni. “I’m excited to teach this class online because it makes the knowledge easily available to people in every corner of the world.”

Each participant has direct access to Master of Wine Tim Hanni for customizing the course to specific needs for business planning and/or career planning. Hanni has worked in every segment of the wine industry including 11 years with what are now Treasury Estates as Director of International Business Development, and four years as a faculty member at Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute where he pioneered their online wine business programs.

Live webinars (conducted twice weekly) are recorded and also available for viewing at the convenience of the participant, making the course approachable for participants from Europe, South America, Asia, Australia– or anywhere across the globe.

Business of Wine is delivered in 16 online classes, and in addition to the live and taped webinars, is presented through video lectures, course conference calls, and a unique, online WineBizSim business-planning project. The WineBizSim tool can be used for U.S. and international wines. There are three versions of the modeling tool which will be explained to participants, who can then choose whether they wish their wine to be reviewed as a winery wine; negociant/winery blending; and a tasting room and wine club wine financial planning version.
