Sam Adams “Coffee Beertails” Combine Two Celebrations

September 28, 2016 – Today is National Drink a Beer Day and Thursday, September 29, is National Coffee Day.  We’ve covered coffee cocktails with some great recipes, but here’s a way to kill two birds with one stone courtesy of Sam Adams.  They’ve combined the best of both worlds into one with coffee beertails!

Both recipes look amazing and with a whole egg, Paradise Stout could make a passable breakfast, plus the fact that a hundred years ago, doctors recommended stout for patients that needed “building up”, even children.  So Sam Adams may be onto something here. “Dry shake” means without ice and it needs to be shaken good and hard to get the egg nicely mixed.  The Nitro Coffee Float could be dessert with that scoop of ice cream, whipped cream and sundae fixin’s.  It looks so tempting.

Paradise Stout

Ingredients:

3 oz Sam Adams Nitro Coffee Stout
1 oz Jamaican Rum
1 oz Pedro Ximenez Sherry
1 whole egg
2 dashes Chocolate bitters

Method: Dry shake, hard shake, strain into snifter and top with nitro stout. Garnish with grated nutmeg

Nitro Coffee Float

Ingredients:

Sam Adams Nitro Coffee Stout (4-6 oz)
1 oz cold brew coffee
.75 oz Frangelico
.75 oz Braulio (or favorite amaro)
Ice cream and condiments

Method: Shake and strain into Pilsner glass. Top 3/4 of the way with Sam Adams Nitro Coffee Stout (4-6 oz). Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Garnish with crushed hazelnuts, and/or whipped cream, sprinkles, cherry and chocolate.
