Red Wine Repelling Shirt Coming Soon

January 6, 2017 – A company in the Netherlands claims their technology can produce a shirt that is stain resistant, including red wine.  It is also odor free, 2-way stretch, eco-friendly, machine washable, wrinkle resistant, fast-drying and breathable.  And you can be an investor via Kickstarter.

The creators say the shirt can be worn for several days without laundering because of its special properties.  Hmmm.  However, according to the video on their Kickstarter site, it does appear to repel red wine very effectively.  The fabric has also been exposed to ketchup, sriracha, olive oil and other liquids and has been laundered 60 times. The stylish shirt is available in white and pastel blue and will retail for around $126.  They also offer a line of stain resistant ties.

Within two days of launching on Kickstarter, Labfresh partners Lotte Vink and Kasper Brandi Petersen reached their goal of raising about $15,800.  Currently they have raised over $21,000 with 26 days to go.  Several of the rewards for investing remain available to new backers.

Production starts in Europe in February and shirts will be available in their Chicago warehouse in March for shipping direct to consumers in April.

Let’s hope they are on to something and that shirts for women will be their next project.  Women have been known to get an occasional splash of red wine on their blouses.  Wine spills aside, there’s a market for crisp white shirts that don’t stain and look dingy after a few washes.
