UPS Expands Shipping Alcohol to Foreign Countries

August 4, 2017 – Shipping your favorite wine to friends, family or business associates in another country is now a possibility thanks to the guys in the big brown trucks.  United Parcel Service (UPS) has just announced that wineries can now ship to consumers living in 24 of the top 35 wine importing countries, and distilleries can ship to nine of the top 25 spirit importing countries. Depending on the destination, orders can arrive at the business or consumer’s home within 3 days. All alcohol shipments require an adult signature upon delivery.

Key destination markets include Canada, China, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Even beer can be shipped. UPS will now ship wine, beer and liquor to consumers and businesses in 11 countries throughout Asia Pacific including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. In Malaysia, only businesses can import wine and beer.

It is the shipper’s responsibility to know and comply with all applicable international laws and regulations, and as the paperwork can be a hassle don’t be surprised if your favorite winery gives you a blank stare and a polite mumble that they can’t (or won’t) do it.  Tell them the UPS shipping system helps wineries, breweries and distilleries avoid delays by uploading all of the required alcohol-related documentation for each country electronically.  No excuses!
