Captain Morgan Sails Again
Did you know that the swashbuckling figure on the Captain Morgan Rum bottle was a real, historic figure? He was a 17th Century Welshman who was a pirate but also Governor of Jamaica. In 1671 he raided and captured Panama City’s Fort San Lorenzo. That was 343 years ago, not exactly a significant anniversary. Nevertheless, Diageo, the brand owner, is releasing a limited edition of Captain Morgan 1671 Commemorative Blend Spiced Rum that will be available nationwide for a suggested retail of $19.99. No doubt it is delicious but we’re still trying to figure out why now.
