Valentine’s Day Cocktails Create Memories

February 8, 2019 – It’s time to get into gear for Valentine’s Day and if staying home and keeping warm is in your plans, make it memorable with a really great cocktail.

Rum cocktails are among the best and Bacardi has teamed up with actor and filmmaker, Michael B. Jordan, to create a rum-based love potion for this Valentine’s Day.  Mr. Jordan has happy memories of growing up with his grandma’s famous rum cakes, always made with Bacardi so naturally, his signature cocktail, The King Cuatro, is made with Bacardi Añejo Cuatro as well fragrant St. Germain and topped with bubbly.

If vodka is your preference, whip up The Secret Admirer with just two ingredients:  Smirnoff Raspberry vodka and Chartreuse.  But if in a rash moment you invited a whole lot of friends over, then Hibiscus Crush will save your bacon – and it is the Year of the Pig! after all.

The King Cuatro

1.5 parts BACARDÍ Añejo Cuatro Rum

0.75 part fresh lemon juice

0.5 part St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur

0.25 part honey

2 blackberries

Martini and Rossi Prosecco

Method: Muddle blackberries in a tin, then add all cocktail ingredients. Shake and strain into coupe glass. Top with Martini and Rossi Prosecco and garnish with a blackberry-speared purple orchid.

(Makes 2 Cocktails)

3 oz of Smirnoff Raspberry

1.5 oz of Chartreuse

Garnish with Raspberries

Method: Place all ingredients in shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into two vintage

Martini glasses. Garnish with fresh raspberries. For extra sweetness. sugar the rims.

The Hibiscus Crush

16 oz Smirnoff No. 21

5 cups dried hibiscus flowers

1 cup water

5 cups sugar

1 oz triple sec orange liqueur

32 oz lemon lime soda

1 lemon (sliced)

1 lime (sliced)

1 orange (sliced)

Crushed ice

Method: Place hibiscus, water and sugar in a small saucepan to simmer on the stove for 5 minutes.  Once sugar is dissolved, set aside to cool. Strain. Place vodka, triple sec, soda and sliced citrus in a punch bowl or beverage container. Add hibiscus infusion. Stir. Right before quests arrive add 4 cups crushed ice.
