October 20, 2021National First Responders Day is October 28.  To celebrate our first responders, Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey has released two limited-run, whiskey-infused doughnuts in collaboration with Dough DoughnutsThe Proper Irish Coffee Cream-Filled and The Proper Irish Coffee Glazed.  A portion of the proceeds of this joint endeavor will benefit The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.  The Foundation honors the sacrifice of FDNY firefighter, Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001.  To date, The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has distributed over $250 million to honor and support our first responders and veterans and their families.  This indeed is a sweet treat for a great cause.

So how can you help?  Buy and enjoy some delicious doughnuts.  There two yummy choices:

The Proper Irish Coffee Cream-Filled Doughnut:  A classic yeast doughnut filled with Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey-infused butter cream and a hint of vanilla, complementing the whiskey’s natural vanilla and honey notes, rolled in orange sugar. The sugar dusting and cream filling are reminiscent of the cream in the Proper Irish Coffee recipe.

The Proper Irish Coffee Glazed Doughnut:  A traditional yeast doughnut covered in a Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey-infused cold brew coffee glaze. Made with Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey, cold brew extract and sugar, the combination enhances Proper No. Twelve’s notes of vanilla, honey and toasted wood. This doughnut pairs well with a Proper Irish Coffee cocktail.

As mentioned, National First Responders Day is October 28 and this is a time-limited offer so order soon – some for yourself and maybe a box for the local boys in blue and the firefighters who keep our neighborhoods safe.  Dough’s Doughnuts have locations throughout New York City and nationwide through their web site.  Shipping is free.

You might be wondering how Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey got its name.  The founder, Conor McGregor, a proud Irishman and multiple weight MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) champion, and his expert team “…created close to one hundred blends and ultimately selected what we knew was the one and only proper whiskey blend”.  Since its launch in 2018, Proper No. Twelve has forged a relationship with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, donating a total of $1.9 million to date.

Dough Doughnuts creates innovative doughnuts in a variety of exciting flavors that integrate elements from both Latin American and European cultures. The doughnuts are made by hand in small batches throughout the day. In response to COVID-19, Dough Doughnuts started Frontline Sweet Support, to deliver their fresh-baked doughnuts to hospitals and front line healthcare workers all over the New York area.
