Grand Cocktails for Mother’s Day
May 4. 2022 – Making Mother’s Day special each year is something we all strive to do. Gifts, flowers, lunch are all wonderful but making a special cocktail is probably not something Mom does on a daily basis – if ever! So here’s your chance to add some unexpected glamour and sophistication as well a creating a new tradition.
We talking about serving Mom a Grand Marnier cocktail which could start the festivities or be the grand finale. Either way, take time to relax and enjoy it together.
Grand Marnier liqueur is a combination of the finest French Cognac and distilled bitter orange essence from a particular variety of Caribbean citrus. Its introduction dates back to 1880 and it quickly became a favorite of the high society set during the Belle Epoque period in Paris. Pair it with Champagne or for Mother’s Day consider a Grand 75 or a Grand Margarita. The recipes follow:
Grand Margarita
- 1 part Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge
- 1 part tequila
- .5 part fresh lime juice
- Ice cubes
- Lime garnish
Method: Fill a wide, shallow dish with 2-3 mm of fine salt. Cut a lime in half at the width and rub around half of the rim of a margarita glass. Cut a thin, crosswise slice from one of the lime halves for garnish. Holding glass upside down, dip wet half delicately into the salt. Shake Grand Marnier, tequila and lime juice with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into glass and apply lime garnish to the rim.
Grand 75
- 1.5 parts of Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge
- 0.75 parts of fresh lime juice
- 1 bar spoon of simple syrup
- 2 parts Lallier Champagne
- Orange twirl garnish
Method: Combine Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, simple syrup, and fresh lemon juice in a shaker tin. Add ice and shake. Fine strain into a chilled flute or coupe glass. Top with chilled dry French Champagne. Garnish with an orange twirl.
