Three Ways to Enjoy Monkey Shoulder: The Whisky, The Perfume, The Cocktail

December 13, 2022 – Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky has brought a new meaning to “smelling like whisky”, which is generally not recommended.  But Monkey Shoulder likes to defy convention.  Their creative Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who obviously has a great sense of humor, created a limited-edition soft scent of the hard stuff just to prove you can smell like the hard stuff when it’s the zesty orange, vanilla, honey and spiced oak that is extracted.

Imagine the fun they all had finding the right fragrance and then the right name and package for a perfume that can be worn by both women and men.  We’re betting a few “wee drams” were consumed as they labored over the challenge.

And so Monkey Musk was developed and with mission accomplished, a spokesman was needed.   Once again the brand teamed up with actor, comedian and host Joel McHale to bring his signature humor to a whisky that knows a thing or two about poking fun at pretentiousness, and the fragrance industry is exactly that.

Monkey Musk is available here for $33.33.   Your purchase of Monkey Musk will come with a redeemable code for a full bottle of Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky (plus shipping) on the house via Caskers (in participating states). You can’t beat that!

Of course the final step had to be an exciting new cocktail inspired by Monkey Musk.  Monkey Shoulder’s Ambassador Anna Mains created The Nosey Monkey made up of the same ingredients replicated in the notes of the fragrance including orange and honey. This way, fans can not only smell delicious, but also enjoy the special taste of Monkey Shoulder with an exciting cocktail.  The recipe is below.

The Nosey Monkey

  • 1 1/2 parts Monkey Shoulder
  • 1/2 part fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 part fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 part honey syrup
  • 3 dashes angostura bitters
  • Top with Prosecco or dry Champagne
  • Orange twist for garnish

Method: Combine all ingredients except Prosecco in a shaker with ice. Shake, strain into a coupe. Top with Prosecco. Express orange twist, and then drop into drink as garnish.
