Perfect Cocktail for Summer’s Ending

August 30, 2023 – Labor Day spells the unofficial end of summer, which for those of us who love the heat and bare feet, is a bit depressing.  But we have a cocktail to make those last “Golden Hours” amazing and it requires no skill at all.

The recipe calls for Las Californias Citrico Gin which we reviewed for World Gin Day.  Both gins from Las Californias are on our list of favorites.  If you haven’t come across honey syrup before it is simply half and half water and honey or two parts honey to water, depending on preference.  It will keep in the fridge forever, well depending on how often you make cocktails.

Baja El Sol Cocktail

• 2 strawberries
• Splash of Peychaud Bitters (optional)
• 3/4 oz honey syrup
• 3/4 oz fresh lemon uice
• 2 oz Las Californias Cítrico
• Mint Leaves (garnish)

Method:  Slice strawberries and add them to an empty shaker and muddle.  Fill the shaker with ice and add remaining ingredients (except mint leaves).  Shake vigorously until well combined.  Fill a High Ball glass with ice.  Double strain and pour into glass and garnish with mint.
