Negroni Week September 18-24

Negroni + Tray

September 15, 2023 —  Negroni Week is back and here’s what you need to know.

The classic Negroni was invented around 1919 in Florence, Italy.  The recipe is simple – equal parts each of Campari, Red (sweet) Vermouth and London Dry Gin served with an orange twist for garnish.  Over 100 years later, it is still acclaimed as one of the best-selling cocktails worldwide.

In 2013, Imbibe Magazine launched Negroni Week as a celebration of this great cocktail while raising money for causes around the world.  The global initiative has raised over $4 million in the last decade through the efforts of the bartending community in 80 markets.

For the second year Imbibe and its partner Campari will collaborate with Slow Food – a global, grassroots organization – founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us.

Consumers can get involved in Negroni Week through participating bars nationwide.  A portion of the sales of Negroni cocktails or Negroni-related items from the Negroni Week Shop will be donated to Slow Food and reinvested in the hospitality community.  You can find a participating bar near you using the Negroni Week Finder tool.

Of course you can make your own Negroni for Negroni Week or year ‘round.  If the necessary ingredients aren’t available locally – Campari,  1757 Vermouth di Torino Rosso and Bulldog Gin —  you can order via  Drizly, Reserve Bar,  and Instacart.
