Hot Drinks for Cold Weather

Barcelo Rum Coffee cocktail

January 15, 2024 – There’s nothing like a hot toddy to warm us up on a cold day and it’s hard to beat a good rum as the base for a true deliciousness.  If you haven’t tried Barceló Rum from the Dominican Republic now is a good time.  We tried several recently and we’re very impressed as are the serious rum critics.

Founded in 1930 by Spaniard Julían Barceló with the intention of producing the best rum in the world in the Dominican Republic, Barceló & Co. offers a wide variety of high-quality rums from100% sugar cane juice harvested from their own cane fields.  These rums can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail.  Below are two recipes for inspiration:

  • Gran Añejo Dark – Made with the finest sugarcane juice aged in barriques with a high toast degree, which gives it a distinctive trait in its category.
  • Dorado Añejado – Naturally aged for up to two years, the result is a rum blend ideal for preparing the best cocktails. A mild rum with an exquisite taste and an amber color.
  • Imperial – Made from the precious nectar of the best selection of Dominican sugarcane harvested in our plantations, Barceló Imperial results from the dizzying dream: the aging of our finest rum reserves. Naturally aged for up to ten years in the best climatic conditions, Barceló Imperial is an exquisite harmony of color, fragrance, and flavor for the senses.
  • Imperial Onyx – Aged up to ten years in oak barriques with a high toast degree, filtered from genuine Onyx stones to obtain a rum with intense, deep notes and a unique character.
