Bag in the Box, and it’s younger cousin Tetra Pak, means wine can go anywhere, including where glass is banned. Apart from keeping wines fresher, this type of packaging is environmentally friendly. Some of the advantages are:
- You don’t need a corkscrew
- Easy to reseal so wine stays fresh for several weeks
- Lightweight so perfect for picnics, biking, sailing and so on
- Can go where glass is banned i.e. swimming pools, state parks, etc.
- Reduced packaging and transportation costs
- Reduced carbon footprint
Boxed or Tetra Pak wines are not for cellaring. They are made to drink now. The quality has really improved and you needn’t feel the least embarrassed at serving a boxed wine. We like the wines from Bandit so much that we’ve written about them on our Wine page. Check it out.
