Red Wine and Chocolate Protect Against Diabetes

A study from East Anglia University in Norwich, UK, found that adding red wine, dark chocolate and berries to the diet can reduce the risk of diabetes.  The key ingredient in all three is flavinoids and consuming high levels of flavinoids helps the body regulate sugar levels.

The research led by Professor Aedin Cassidy analyzed the blood of 2000 women who kept diaries of what they ate and drank.  Apart from regulating levels of insulin, flavinoids also seemed to help prevent inflammation.

Here is the full story about flavinoid compounds in fruits and vegetables, a video report from Skynews, and a warning not to overdo the chocolate and red wine bit.
