Napa Valley Vintners Donates $10 Million to Disaster Fund

In the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor, the Napa Valley Vintners, a nonprofit trade association with 500 members, has pledged $10 million to create a Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund to help the hundreds of local residents and businesses impacted by the August 24 earthquake.  Individuals and businesses from American Canyon north to Calistoga are eligible for assistance. Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) will administer the disaster relief fund.

So where did this large sum of money come from?  For more than 30 years, Napa Valley Vintners have held an annual fundraising auction.  This year’s grand total was a record breaking $18.4 million.  The vintners donate incredibly valuable wines and host auction attendees at lavish dinners prepared by the Valley’s famous chefs.  Every cent raised by the auction is donated to healthcare and children’s education.  How fortunate that in this drastic time of need, the association can so generously come to the rescue of the community.
