Johnnie Walker’s Revolutionary Glass

April 28, 2015 – Imagine sipping Johnnie Walker Red Label mixed with ginger in a glass that produces music when it touches your teeth! Johnnie Walker, the brand that brought you ugly brogues with concealed mini bottles in the heels http://wineandspirits.com/these-shoes-are-made-for-boozing/ is testing the concept in the U.K.
The glass has an amplifier embedded in its base that receives an audio signal from an AM/FM radio transmitter. The glass serves as a speaker, so when your teeth touch its surface, sound vibrations transfer to the jaw, then to the inner ear.
Condiment Junkie, a company of sensory scientists, created sounds to highlight the warm and spicy notes in the drink, which is a cocktail of Johnnie Walker Red Label with a ginger flavored mix. Apparently what you are hearing will increase flavor notes. Angular sounds increase the heat of the ginger, according to tests.
The company calls it “The Boldest Glass”. Oscar Ocaña, Johnnie Walker brand director, said of the musical glass: “This could potentially be a revolution within a culture that hasn’t changed in decades. The glass is set to give drinkers a glimpse of what bar culture could be like in the future and we’re so excited for drinkers to experience the boldest version ever of a Johnnie and ginger.”
The only place to sample it is at a London bar Call Me Mr Lucky where you will be served on request until May 10. So pop on over and let us know how it works and buy a pair of brogues while you’re there.
