Wine Ice Cream Really Does Exist

July 22, 2015 – Saw a rave review for wine ice cream on Spoon University, which appears to be a site for recipes and tips for college students.  It’s actually pretty good and interesting. Further research about wine ice cream unearthed a good review from Food & Wine magazine.  Now that’s a review worth having.

The company providing this gustatory delight is Mercer’s Dairy of Boonville, N.Y. and their wine infused ice cream has been around since 2006.  They make eight different flavors:  Peach White Zinfandel, Strawberry Sparkling, Red Raspberry Chardonnay, Riesling, Cherry Merlot, Cabernet Chocolate, Port and Spice.  Their web site shows locations where product can be purchased in 18 U.S. states, mainly in the North East and South as well as Laval, P.Q., Canada, Trinidad and the Netherlands.  Hey, what about California?
Luckily, it is possible to order this award-winning wine ice cream on line and have it shipped overnight in dry ice.  The order form, pricing, etc. is on their web site and also check out their amazing, yummy cocktail recipes that look irresistible http://www.mercersdairy.com.  You must be 21 to place an order because the ice cream is 5% alcohol.  In fact, in checking the list of retailers we noticed most of the stores were liquor store.  Our Spoon University correspondent pronounced it a great way to pig out on ice cream and get drunk at the same time.  Pig out for sure but at least you won’t get drunk on an empty stomach.
