Thieves Steal Beer Caps, Leave Beer

August 27, 2015 – Busy thieves broke into a store in Muelheim an der Ruhr in the west of Germany and stole the caps off 1,200 bottles of Koenig Pilsner.  They didn’t drink or take any beer and they were selective about which caps they took.  Only ones with points towards prizes such as Bose speakers or a Black & Decker cordless drill were taken.  All the annoying “Good Luck Try Again” caps littered the floor.

Police have no leads but they speculate the cap heist involved more than one person considering the size of the operation.  How long would it take to remove 1,200 beer caps?

Someone must have been really desperate for a prize and a Koenig Brewery spokesman said it was “quite incredible”.  He said they have no way of tracking where the caps originated but they will now be on the lookout for someone who submits an unusually high number of caps.  But that doesn’t make sense.  People save the caps until they have enough points to get the prize they want.  Hope the storeowner is covered by insurance.
