Red Wine May Benefit Type 2 Diabetes

October 15, 2015 – The latest research released by Ben-Gurion University in Israel shows that cardiac health and cholesterol improve when people with Type 2 diabetes consumed five ounces (150 ml) of red wine with dinner every evening. The study of 224 people was conducted over two years.
Divided into three groups, one group drank five ounces of mineral water, the other two consumed either red or white wine. All of them followed a Mediterranean diet. The red wine group showed improvement in heart health and better cholesterol levels, but both red and white wine helped to improve sugar control in some patients. A daily glass of wine also helped the participants to sleep better.
