Napa Wine Auction Raises $14.3 Million for Charities

April 16, 2016 –Once again, Napa Valley wineries came through to produce Auction Napa Valley, an event that realized $14.3 million that will be donated to non-profits serving children’s education and community health services.  The event was held June 2-5.

The wineries donated thousands of bottles of expensive wine, elegant dinner parties and fabulous prizes that enticed wealthy, wine-loving attendees to dig deep in their pockets and part with large sums of money that will flow to those in need in the Valley community.  This year’s auction was the 36th adding to the total of more than $150 million in funds already raised to serve more than 100,000 clients annually.

Nine hundred guests paid big bucks to attend the auction held on the grounds of Meadowood Resort.  After the auction guests dined al fresco on the Meadowood green savoring the live fire cooking of South American celebrity chef Francis Mallmann.  The event closed with dancing to the Latin beat of Los Van Van, a 30-piece Cuban band.
An army of Napan citizenry, 400 strong, opened bottles, poured wine, emptied dump buckets, and washed glassware at various tasting events, which included a tasting open to the general public.  Speaking of glassware, it is estimated that more than 13,500 were used over the three-day event.
