Easy Cocktails for Labor Day Parties

August 25, 2016 – You’ve got beer on your list.  You’ve got wine.  But you’d really like something special to get things rolling.  Here’s a choice of six simple but delicious, and pretty, cocktails that don’t require a PhD in mixology or an enormous outlay on a haul of expensive bottles.  One recipe will even solve your dessert dilemma.  Take a look at Averna Ice Cream Float.  How yummy is that!  We’re thinking it will make a grand finale to a relaxed barbecue with friends and it couldn’t be simpler.


Aperol Spritz

3 parts Cinzano Prosecco
2 parts Aperol
1 dash soda
Ice and a slice of orange

Method:

Pour the Prosecco, Aperol and a dash of soda into an ice-filled balloon wine glass and stir. Garnish with an orange slice.

Sangria Rosa

1 ½ oz. Rosa Regale
1 whole strawberry
1 pineapple cube
1 ½ oz. Raspberry Vodka
½ oz. simple syrup
½ oz. lime juice
1 oz. soda

Method:

In a cocktail shaker muddle strawberry and pineapple. Add ice, raspberry vodka, simple syrup and lime juice, and shake. Add Rosa Regale and soda. Swirl and strain into 14 oz glass over ice. Garnish with a pineapple leaf, skewered pineapple and strawberry.

Frozen Strawberry Negroni

1 oz. Campari
1 oz. Bulldog Gin
1 oz. Cinzano 1757 Sweet Vermouth
.75 oz. orange juice
.5 oz. simple syrup
1 strawberry

Method:

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with a strawberry and orange slice.

Red, White and True Martini

3 oz. elit Vodka
Garnish of raspberry, blueberry and pearl onion

Method:

Pour elit into a mixing glass and stir with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a raspberry, blueberry and pearl onion.

Cynar Julep

2 oz. Cynar
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 oz. soda water
12 mint leaves

Method:

In a tall glass, add mint and all ingredients except soda water and bitters. Gently muddle, add ice, then soda and top with bitters.

1.5 oz. Averna
Black cherry soda
Chocolate ice cream

Method:

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add Averna. Top with soda – leaving about 1.5 inches of space from the top of the glass. Top with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Then pour a bit more soda to activate the float!
