Coffee Cocktails for National Coffee Day September 29

September 26, 2017 – Morning Joe slips happily into Evening Joe when coffee enters the equation.  Coffee and spirits are made for each other but the trick to a great cocktail is getting the proportions right.

We’ve three new recipes below, one is bourbon based, one features gin and the third calls for vodka, and since October 4 is National Vodka Day, you can drink spiked coffee for almost a week!

The Espresso Martini from Employees Only, New York created by Dev Johnson, is light and flavorful and really simple to make with crisp, smooth Reyka, an Icelandic vodka.  Bulleit Kentucky Coffee with Vanilla Brown Sugar Syrup can be served hot or cold.  Sounds like it would be just the thing on a cold day.  Wooden Shoes combines smooth Nolet’s Silver Gin with the complex flavor of coffee liqueur, almond (Orgeat), orange bitters and the herbs and spices of Averno.

National Coffee Day caught our attention last year and we celebrated with five recipes.  We’ve also compiled nearly a dozen coffee cocktail recipes to convert Mom’s ho-hum coffee into something very special for Mother’s Day.  You’ll find rum based recipes here and recipes using a variety of spirits here.
