Crown Royal Partners With Mitchell Tenpenny to Support Creativets During Military Appreciation Month
May 22, 2023 — May is Military Appreciation Month, and to continue the month-long observance, Crown Royal Whisky, country music star Mitchell Tenpenny and charity partner CreatiVets teamed up to make May the most generous month yet.
While filming for a Chefs & Vets segment, linked HERE, Mitchell presented a surprise $120,000 donation on behalf of Crown Royal to CreatiVets founder Richard Casper, to further the nonprofit’s mission of empowering wounded veterans to heal through music and art therapy.
The whisky brand has been dedicated to serving the military community for over a decade through initiatives like The Purple Bag Project, and is excited to partner with nonprofit CreatiVets for Military Appreciation Month in 2023.
Richard Casper, co-founder and CEO of CreatiVets, is himself a wounded veteran. He served four years as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps, with a combat deployment in Fallujah, Iraq. During his deployment, he was hit by four IEDs in just four short months, causing him to suffer from a traumatic brain injury. Upon returning home, Richard found it hard to adjust and suffered from PTSD until he discovered the healing power of music and art. Based on his own experience he co-founded CreatiVets to help other veterans who are suffering.
Telling the story of how his organization became involved with the famous whisky brand he said, “Crown Royal first became a partner of CreatiVets last fall when they invited us to join in on their CMA Awards activation and we couldn’t resist. What I didn’t know was they were going to invite me onstage during the live broadcast and surprise me with a donation. From there, we’ve grown our partnership and I couldn’t be more excited to continue our partnership throughout Military Appreciation Month.”
Crown Royal partnered with Kittch to create “Vets & Chefs: Gratitude for Service” — a multi-layered digital and IRL program. The series showcased inspiring stories from veterans as they were hosted by some of the country’s best chefs, and joined by NFL players throughout the program. Kittch rallied five of the most influential chefs in America to toast a local hero and show their appreciation the best way they know how, through food and celebration. Each livestream delivered inspirational, entertaining, and heartwarming content.
