New Course in Beer and Food

If you love beer and want to know more, a new course about beer and food might be fun to explore. The Brewers Association, a trade association dedicated to small and independent brewers, has created the new course to educate culinary institutions, restaurants, beverage students and beer educators. While it is directed at professionals, there’s no reason why lovers of great beer shouldn’t increase their knowledge and appreciation of beer, how to pair it with food, and how to pour and serve it. There’s nothing on the web site that says “Amateurs Keep Off”.
The 60-page digital manual is free to download at www.craftbeer.com. In addition to lectures and suggested readings, instructors guide students through two tasting sessions of beer styles and a food pairing session. The final day’s exam, which is available only to accredited instructors and dedicated educators by request, is a 50-question written exam and instructions for a two-part pairing exam, during which students create a three-course menu, prepare the dishes and select appropriate craft beer pairings.
The curriculum sounds really interesting and is certain to add to your enjoyment of the brew. Who knows? You might even find a new career.
