Housework or Happy Hour?

The newest fragrance trend for household cleaners is to make them smell like cocktails.  A dish liquid that smells like a daiquiri or a piña colada will help you mellow out in a tropical paradise while slaving over a hot sink.  Thus dishwashing and other monotonous household chores are suddenly more enjoyable as you fantasize you are some place else.  At least that’s the theory of a number of manufacturers of cleaning products, including dog shampoo.  We’re reminded of a story we did some time ago about cleaning the bathtub with vodka.

But what if the reverse happens?  What if you’re enjoying a cocktail with friends and it reminds you of the stack of dishes in the sink?  Perhaps it works like Pavlov’s dog.  Driven by the scent, the housework gets done faster and you get the reward – a cocktail, of course.
