Wine Spectator Endows Sonoma State University

The Wine Spectator Scholarship Fund has pledged $3 million to Sonoma State University at Rohnert Park for a new home for the Wine Business Institute. It will be known as Wine Spectator Learning Center.
SSU’s Wine Business Institute was founded in 1996 and was the first program to focus exclusively on the business aspects of wine. Programs at other universities mainly cover viticulture and winemaking. Last year more than 600 students used the program, most studying for a B.S. in Wine Business Strategies or an M.B.A. in Wine Business.
Upon completion, in mid-2016, the new learning center at SSU will offer more than 14,500 square feet of space for instruction and student activities. There will be three dedicated classrooms, a student commons with areas for collaboration and student-run businesses, and an industry center with space for professional and academic faculty and program leadership.
