Good News for New York’s Brewers, Distillers and Wineries

Since 2011 the number of microbreweries in New York state has increased from 40 to 100; farm distilleries from 10 to 52; and farm wineries from 195 to 289. The Governor and legislators have taken note of this thriving industry and are working to remove restrictions that shackle their growth. Among proposed changes are increasing the amount small producers are allowed to make, allowing tastings and no longer requiring an additional license to cover sales by the bottle and glass, and lowering food requirements in producers’ tasting facilities. The brewers, distillers and winemakers are ready to drink to that.
