Saké : Is It A Wine Or A Beer?

The famous Japanese beverage is often referred to as rice wine. But as educator Harriet Lembeck points out, it is fermented grain and therefore more akin to beer. It is growing in popularity in this country, possibly because it is being served cold instead of hot in those tiny carafes found in Japanese restaurants, and paired with many styles of cuisine, not just Japanese.
