Good News for Single Malt Scotch

We reported that the on-premise or restaurant/bar category was down for wine sales in 2013 but there’s good news on the single malt front. Restaurant Sciences LLC, a firm that tracks food and beverage sales in the food service industry, says that Single Malt Scotches, the expensive stuff, grew 3.1% in dollar volume and 3.6% in case sales volume for the three months ending November 2013 over the same period in 2012.
Total Scotch sales actually declined in the same period so the growth of premium Single Malts is a bright spot for distillers offering upscale products.
