Beer Quiz

Next time you and your pals are downing a few brewskis, see if they can name which state consumes the most beer per capita per year. You can win this one! Here are the stats from the Beer Institute reported by Fox News:

North Dakota is #1 at 45.8 gallons per person per year. The reason is all the young males working in the oil and gas industry. Thirsty work!

Next is New Hampshire at 43.9 gallons. We’d never have guessed that one but it might be a bit misleading because the folks in Massachusetts and Maine cross state lines to avoid taxes in their own states. Montana ties N.H. – lots of craft breweries and a long tradition of beer drinking.

South Dakota at 38.9 gallons beats Wisconsin at 36.2. We got that one wrong!

In order of least beer consumption, Utah takes the cake (not the keg) at just 20.2 gallons followed by Connecticut (22.1), New Jersey and New York (22.4). The latter is a surprise since it has 89 breweries and beer is available in grocery stores and on Sunday. So what are they drinking instead? Big Gulps?
