The idea of a Woodstock-like event happening in the Napa Valley made a lot of locals nervous. Bottlerock, the four-day rock concert at the Napa Fairgrounds turned out to be not so bad after all, unless your house was in the immediate vicinity. The deafening decibels definitely caused some headaches.
The 70-plus big name acts attracted an estimated 120,000 visitors making it the biggest event ever in the Napa Valley. Despite the huge numbers, the crowd was described by experienced concert organizers as fairly mellow and well behaved. Perhaps the food catered by starred chefs and served with some of the best Napa Valley wines had some influence.
Bottlerock 2014 is scheduled for May 9-11 and tickets are already on sale. Go to www.bottlerocknapavalley.com for details on this year’s event and information for 2014.
