David Sues Goliath

Craft Brewery Takes on Anheuser-Busch
Big Sky Brewing Co. based in Montana has filed a suit in U.S. District Court in Missoula against Anheuser-Busch over the use of the phrase “Hold my beer and watch this” which they say violates their trademark.

Three videos from Bud Light on YouTube depict the humorous and unexpected results of asking someone to “hold my beer and watch this.”  So far they have had nearly five million hits.  But Big Sky Brewing Co. claims they have used this phrase since 2004, have printed it on the back of some cans, and hold the trademark.

The Anheuser-Busch conglomerate has nearly 50% of the US beer market.  Big Sky Brewing sells about 45,000 barrels of craft beers nationally.  It claims it is the 50th biggest brewery in the country.

We don’t know who’s right and who’s wrong but we do have to respect Big Sky Brewing’s brassy David taking on the Goliath of Anheuser-Busch.
