Message to Budweiser: We Love The Clydesdales

Nov. 27, 2014 – The King of Beers is losing its throne. The Wall Street Journal reports that shipments of Budweiser in 2013 dropped from 30 million barrels to 16 million. Another amazing statistic is that 44 percent of people aged 21 to 27 have never sipped an ice cold Bud. They’re drinking craft beers, wine and cocktails.

So are Budweiser’s famous Clydesdales an endangered species as InBev looks to cut costs? They are not being used in the brand’s traditional holiday advertising but will be used in Super Bowl ads we are assured. The brains at Bud seem to think the horses don’t appeal to young drinkers. Could it possibly be the beer has gotten worse under foreign ownership? A lot of people think so or maybe tastes have simply changed.

The horses were introduced in 1933 to celebrate the end of Prohibition. They are true Americana. Judging by the comments we read online, if the Clydesdales go, the King will be demoted to a mere princeling or worse.
