March 11, 2016 – The Dos Equis man is no longer “The Most Interesting Man in the World”. He is being dispatched to Mars on a one-way trip where presumably he will stay very thirsty.
Heineken, owners of Dos Equis, have decided to use a new persona as the campaign continues. Just a year ago we were writing about The Most Interesting Man promoting his new flame, Rita as in Dos-A-Rita.
No word on who the replacement is except to say they are “contemporizing the campaign”.
For the real “Most Interesting Man”, Jonathan Goldsmith, it must be a bittersweet ending. The popular commercial and his delivery of the closing phrase “Stay thirsty my friends” has become a part of the lexicon. In his closing commercial he bids farewell to a colorful assortment of people as he makes his way to the rocket ship taking him to Mars.
