Dogs Become Bartenders for a Day

May 13, 2016 — PR stunts are going to the dogs, literally.  In London recently, Kronenbourg 1664 beer created a pop up bar tended by a team of two trained Alsatian dogs, or “bark-tenders”.  The bar was dubbed Bar d’Alsace-tian.

The dogs delivered chilled beer via a custom dog harness with a miniature beer barrel attached at the neck. Inside the barrel was a complimentary chilled bottle of Kronenbourg 1664 for customers to remove and enjoy.  A platter of bread and cheese was included, presumably served by humans.

The pop up bar was open for only two hours and reservations were snapped up immediately after the announcement.  The stunt was arranged to coincide with the launch of Kronenbourg’s new advertisement featuring French actor and famous former football star Eric Cantona who played for Manchester United.  Kronenbourg was founded in 1664 in Strasbourg, France and is now owned by Carlsberg Group.
