July 21, 2017 – Calorie counting is banned this Sunday, July 23 as we observe National Vanilla Ice Cream Day. And, of course, the celebration of America’s most popular ice cream flavor calls for a boozy twist.
In 1984 President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream month and the third Sunday as National Ice Cream Day. Ice cream is more than just one of life’s pleasures. The industry contributes $39 billion to the U.S. economy as well as an estimated 188,000 jobs. The average American stokes the economic engine by consuming more than 23 pounds annually.
Adding splashes of liquor or liqueur to vanilla ice cream is always a quick and easy dessert that can be dressed up with macerated fresh fruit or fancy cookies on the side but Crown Royal has its own take on how to enjoy National Ice Cream Day. Their mixologist Brian Floyd came up with The Very Vanilla Shake using Crown Royal Vanilla. All you have to do is combine 1.5 oz of Crown Royal Vanilla with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and three dashes of Molé Bitters in a blender. Pour into a pretty glass and enjoy.
