Kona’s Gold Cliff IPA Now Available All Year
June 20, 2019 – We know that wine labels sell wine so there’s a good chance the same can be said for beer. We’ll admit to being suckers for Kona Brewing’s labels and the Gold Cliff IPA is no exception. We want to be there!
We were lucky enough to receive some cans recently and couldn’t wait to crack one. This IPA is brewed with Chinook, Topaz, Mosaic and Citra hops plus the added ingredient of pineapple. We really couldn’t taste the pineapple but there was a hint on the nose. We checked reviews on various beer sites and plenty of enthusiasts claim they can taste pineapple, so their beer buds are better than ours.
Gold Cliff is really refreshing. Citrusy, a bit fruity and we liked how the bitterness wasn’t unpleasantly sour but balanced, fading to a smooth finish. The alcohol is 7.2% by volume but it didn’t feel like it.
We first paired it with very spicy harissa chicken and it didn’t work. But paired with bratwurst, it was wonderful. The Kona Brewing web site recommends serving with smoked pork, grilled ham, or chicken sausage or even moist golden cake for a pineapple upside-down cake experience. Dive into dessert! How cool is that.
Pricing
Gold Cliff IPA is available in bottles and cans priced around $7.99 to $9.99 depending on State taxes, etc. When introduced in 2018 it was seasonal but the good news is, it is now available year ‘round.
