Research Confirms Millennials Abandoning Beer

May 29, 2015 – Craft beers are on fire so it was somewhat surprising that research by MorganStanley revealed that 24 percent of consumers across all age groups say they will decrease their beer consumption next year.  Only eight percent thought they would drink more.  Millennials in particular said they prefer wine and spirits.  In 2012, 33 percent of millennials proclaimed beer their favorite beverage but in 2015, that number has declined to 27.4 percent according to MorganStanley’s survey.

Macro brews are especially unpopular with young drinkers but one bright spot is the growing popularity of Mexican beer, Corona in particular.  The wine and spirits industries must be overjoyed by the news, along with their craft brew brothers.
