Brewery Founded in 1860 a Major Success in Pakistan

The Murree Brewery, originally started to provide British forces in India with good beer, continues to succeed and profit despite it now being in Pakistan, a Muslim country where alcohol is forbidden. (India was partitioned into Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan in 1947.)
Located in Rawalpindi, the heart of Pakistan’s military base, Murree Brewery also produces soft drinks and juices and, surprisingly, aged malt whiskies, vodka, gin and Irish Cream. Under the laws of Pakistan, Muslims are prohibited from consuming alcoholic drinks. Non-Muslims and foreigners require a consumption permit to acquire a case of beer or six half-liter bottles of spirits a month. The company produces far more than necessary to take care of the thirst of less than 3% of the population allowed to buy a permit. It is not allowed to export. Did we mention it is the only producer of alcoholic beverages in Pakistan?
